Cornelius Allen
Cornelius F. Allen, 75, of Summit died March 5 in Overlook
Hospital, Summit. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., Mr. Allen lived the
majority of his life in Summit. He worked as a department manager
of housewares for B. Altman and Co., Short Hills, for many years,
before the closing of the store. Surviving are a sister, Catherine
Fleming, and a brother, George. The Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial,
Summit, handled the arrangements.
Alan Mendelson
Alan L. Mendelson, 66, of Summit died March 3 at home. Born in
Jersey City, Mr. Mendelson moved to Summit in 1978. He was an
executive with AT&T for 18 years and was president and CEO of
InfoTech Consulting Inc. for several years, retiring in 2001. Mr.
Mendelson also was an independent business consultant and served on
several corporate boards. Surviving are his wife, Carol; a
daughter, Randy Mendelson, and a sister, Susan Seitman. The
Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston,
handled the arrangements.
Burnett Piana
Burnett W. “Pete” Piana, 75, a lifelong resident of Summit, died
Feb. 27 at home. Mr. Piana was born in Summit. He graduated from
Summit High School in 1954. Later, Mr. Piana served in the Air
Force, where he was stationed in Germany for three years. He
retired from UPS after working there for more than 25 years. Mr.
Piana was active in many charities. He was a long time supporter of
the Dominican Nuns of Our Lady of the Rosary Shrine in Summit.
Surviving are two brothers, James F. and Edwin, and a sister, Mary
Grumka. The Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, Summit, handled the
arrangements.
