Lars Anderson
Lars M. Anderson, 45, of Pennington, formerly of Summit, died Jan.
23. Born in Ann Arbor, Mich., Mr. Anderson lived in Summit and
resided in Pennington for the past five years. He was employed for
the past four years as an insurance executive for Frank Crystal
Insurance Co., New York City. Mr. Anderson was a member of the
Princeton United Methodist Church and the Trenton Country Club.
Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Donna; a son, Kurtis; a
daughter, Paige Anderson; his mother and stepfather, Corda Beth
Vitas and Peter Villani; a brother, Eric, and a sister, Lori
Ahern-Cook. The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, Princeton, handled the
arrangements.
Robert Kleppe
Robert Stanley Kleppe, 79, of Summit died Jan. 25 at home. Born in
Brooklyn, Mr. Kleppe resided in Summit. He received a bachelor of
science degree in mechanical engineering with honors from Bucknell
University in 1952 and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering
from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute in 1955. Mr. Kleppe began his
career with Exxon Corp. in 1952 and retired after 34 years as
director and executive vice president of Esso Inter-American. From
1989 to 1991, he worked for ABB Lummus Crest as vice president and
general director of project management and from 1991 to 1997, he
was a consultant to ABB Lummus Crest. During his long career, Mr.
Kleppe was responsible for developing a coal plant in Columbia,
South America, and the development of a chemical plant and a
refinery in Russia. He also served as an arbitrator and member of
the board of directors of the Society of Maritime Arbitrators from
1995 to 2008. Surviving are three daughters, Janet Essig, Donna
Betz and Linda Castiglione, and eight grandchildren. A memorial
service will be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 7 in St. John’s Lutheran
Church, Summit.
Diane Lawrence
Diane Hunt Lawrence, 77, of New Providence, formerly of Summit,
died Jan. 26 at home. Born in Pulaski, Va., Mrs. Lawrence came to
in Summit in 1963, where she lived before moving to New Providence.
She attended public schools in Winchester, Va., and was an active
member of the John Handley High School Class of 1951. Mrs. Lawrence
attended Sweet Briar College and Katherine Gibbs Business School,
New York. She was a member of the Junior League of Summit. Mrs.
Lawrence volunteered at Runnells Specialized Hospital of Union
County, Berkeley Heights. She helped to establish the Summit Speech
School and served as an inaugural board member, treasurer and
volunteer over the years. Mrs. Lawrence also was treasurer of the
Convalescent Fund Committee of Summit. She held the positions of
treasurer and corresponding secretary for the Summit Garden Club
and was a member of the New Jersey Conservation Foundation. Mrs.
Lawrence was an accomplished golfer and bowler. As a member of the
Baltusrol Golf Club, Springfield, she received the 2001 Golfer of
the Year award, which is presented for good sportsmanship and a
love of the game. Mrs. Lawrence also scored for several PGA
tournaments, including the 1980 and 1993 U.S.opens. Surviving are
two sons, Thomas Hunt and James Durand Jr. The Dangler Funeral
Home, Summit, handled the arrangements.
